I have been invited to participate in a trial for some new Allen's products including mini snakes, under the sea and fruit salad. I will be getting 30 packs in June to share around, so I wonder how many new friends I will make???

Launceston Aquatic

We were lucky enough to get free tickets to a special "sneak preview" of Launceston Aquatic today, and were the first of four groups to go through this weekend. There was also an opening gala that Lisa and Aaron went to last night. We had 3 hours there that included a brief information session and ribbon cutting. I wasn't sure what the facility would be like as there had been a lot of negative talk in the media over the last 2 years while it's been under construction. I have to say - it was better than I expected, and really well done. We had a great time there today and can't wait to go back!

It's also got some of the best views in Launceston from the decks!

The kids play areas. The bucket filled up, an alarm sounded...

...and then it would dump HEAPS of water onto the kids every few minutes!

We were SO lucky as it was 21 degrees today - more like Spring than Winter next week - and the kids got to go on the slide and into the outdoor diving pool!

The slide is "awesome" apparently!

There will be aquarobic classes, learn to swim, water polo and underwarter hockey held there and you can have birthday parties there too! There's a warm rehab pool with wheelchair access and a SPA!!! There's also Cube Aqua cafe with a deck with stunning views over Launceston and up the river. The verdict - MUCH better than Hobart's aquatic centre (but we are MUCH better here in the North).

Fantastic facebook friends!

I LOVE getting mail, and so do the kids! This week we've been lucky enough to receive TWO packages from facebook friends! Susanne in Queensland - not only a fb friend but my "pen friend" (friends we had BEFORE fb) since our kids were babies - sent us a heap of brochures about the theme parks and other fantastic attractions on the Gold Coast. Patrick and Lauren have looked at them every day and are SO excited! It's easier for them to compare the theme parks than on the 'net - so thanks Susanne - we are VERY excited!!!

Today Patrick received a package from New Zealand from my fb Scrabble buddy Kevin who is involved with Scouting New Zealand. While chatting and trying to distract him so I can win at Scrabble, we discovered a scouting link, and Kevin sent HEAPS of badges that the kids have been having a fantastic time sorting out this afternoon! I know someone else who will have a fantastic time sewing them on to the kids scout blankets! Thanks Mum - they only have about 25 each!!!

New playground!!!

Yesterday when Mum and I were walking on the boardwalk, we found this new playground in Royal Park! It's not finished yet but it looks great. There is an "exercite" around the outside, with all kinds of "gym-like" equipment. Being so close to Launceston College, I guess they wanted to put some equipment the teens can use too! It looks great - I can't wait to take the kids there! It's about time they put a playground in Royal Park - I suggested one when I worked for Parks and Rec nealy 20 years ago!!!

52,000 Members!!!

The Hawks will have reached 52,000 members by June! That's the most members of any AFL team EVER!!! It's not quite the 60,000 I predicted but it's getting there! It's not too late to join if you haven't!!! Tonight's the night - a thrashing of the Shockers in Perth will start a "roll" of wins, and the Hawks of 2008 will be back!!!

Cross Country

Patrick and Lauren had their cross country yesterday and as one of the teachers said - what perfect weather! They have their school sports in late October and it's always freezing, but the cross country in late Autumn is always a beautiful day - gotta love Autumn in Tassie!!! Unfortunately I did not see the day - or the cross country as I was at work - the first one I've missed, but Shayne was off and he, Tracey and Quinn went and I must say, my apprentice took some pretty good photos!

Patrick's face says it all - guess who was being silly???

Patrick and Lauren are loving Cubs this year. I wasn't sure how they'd go together, but it's a big group so they still get their own space which is lucky as two minutes in close proximity to each other is about a minute too long at the moment!!! Both of them are trying hard to collect as many badges as they can, and have been working on them on the weekends - keeping Mum busy with all the sewing (thanks Nanna!).
