VERY excited!

For years Lauren has been asking us for bunk beds. Four weeks ago, we went into Harvey Norman during a big bedding sale and bought her a set of bunks, and a king single ensemble for Patrick who is going to be a giant (or at least 6ft4" if my calculations are correct). Patrick has had his old bed since he was 2 so it is beginning to sag, and really needed to be replaced before he has another growth spurt. They told us 4 weeks for delivery and sure enough, they turned up on Friday (unheard of as 4 weeks usually means 6-8!) I decided not to tell Lauren about her bunks and surprise her as she has been SO excited asking every other day if they were here yet. Unfortunately someone - not naming names - SHAYNE - told her on Thursday night that they were coming, so I had to FIB to her and say only Patrick's was here, and her's would be here soon. After a few tears and the promise of a sleepover at Tracey's, she got over it, and we set to work cleaning out the tip that was her room, and assembling the bunks. Shayne did a FANTASTIC job on Friday night and Saturday morning, and we had the bunks ready to surprise Lauren by the time she got home on Saturday. We have lots of sleepovers here with the kids cousins, so now instead of the lounge room being full of sleeping bags and bodies, we should be able to confine it to two bedrooms!
It began with 3 HUGE and VERY heavy boxes
an empty room for the first time in 5 years lots and lots of piles of numbered parts and it soon began to take shape
the work site supervisor kept an eye on things
making sure the OH&S guidelines were being followed
and after about 8 hours of work
the finished result is fantastic
and made one little girl VERY happy

The bunks and new bed were put to good use with 2 cousins sleeping over last night, and 7 kids here at one stage today checking out Lol's "day bed" as she's calling her bottom bunk!
P.S Lol dressed herself in the lovely brown and gold with fuchsia pink socks, and will now be wearing that winning combination every game day!
GO HAWKS!
*Thanks Tracey.

Hey Soul Sister

Having a bad day? Check out Hey Soul Sister by Train - a guaranteed mood lifter.
I love Train - You might remember "Calling all Angels" and "Drops of Jupiter" from a few years back.
(and it doesn't hurt that Patrick Monahan is the lead singer!)

Swimming Carnival

Patrick had his swimming carnival today at Riverside Pool.
Luckily we had a lovely, warm day as yesterday was blowing a gale and quite cold.
Patrick came 3rd in Backstroke
Second in the freestyle
and 1st in the breaststroke
This pool is 33 metres, and it's longer than where they practice, and where they usually swim, so they all did extra well to finish their races. Mum and I went and watched and were both really impressed - not only with Patrick's swimming, but with the way he conducted himself the whole time. He was sensible even though others were being silly, he listened to the staff, cheered his team on and encouraged others to go in the races. He's no longer my little boy, but I am thrilled to see what a fantastic young man he's becoming!
To top off an excellent day, Patrick's house Sea came first winning by only 16 points, and as I said to Patrick, his participation and fantastic effort helped get them over the line!
Well done Patrick!

45,000 AND CLIMBING!

If you've been thinking about joining the Mighty Hawks this year, it's not too late! With 45,093 members and growing every week, they are aiming for a record of 55,000 - hopefully with 10,000 of those being Tassie members. This time last year they had 40,045 so they are well on the way to beating the 2009 record of 52,496. There are some great membership packages - some including reserved seats to the four rostered games here in Tassie. The boys are looking fantastic and it should be another brilliant year for them -
GO HAWKS!
