Our gorgeous
Cataract Gorge took on a new look this week. After higher than average Winter rainfalls, and rain every day so far during August, the Gorge is in flood. Shayne took the kids up to have a look yesterday as I was convalescing at home with nasty tonsillitis.

And these were taken yesterday - the path (above) was under water

Gone are the lush green lawns AND the swimming pool
That's the top of the swings in the water on the left just below the stone wall!

The view back towards the Tamar River and the City
They then went to
Trevallyn Dam for a look

The volume of water going over the dam wall every second is equivalent to an Olympic size swimming pool - that's every second!

I haven't seen it like this since I was pregnant with Patrick - more than 10 years ago!
It is absolutely pouring now with lots of thunder and lightning so I'd imagine there is going to be a lot more water around for a while yet!
*Thanks to my apprentice Shayne for yesterdays specky photos

I love the photo of Patrick. Made me laugh. Lets hope some of the water flushes the Tamar. Essendon have to lose today so that Hawks are still in with just the slightest chance of making the 8.

It's nice to dream!
Nice photos Shayne! The amount of water is incredible.
wow thats a lotta water
Was a nice 27 degrees and sunny as here today and the last few days
Oh wow, I had no idea it was that bad! We must be out of a drought now! Although they keep saying we're still in a drought no matter how much rainfall we get. Hope the antibiotics is doing its thing for you.
Despite the flooding, apparently we are not out of drought yet and it may take a couple of good wet years still to recover. Just hope the flooding doesn't do more damage, and I'm glad we wont have an early fire season this year at least.
oh my goodness david and i can't believe all the water! its incredible!
