Goodbye to an old friend
Sadly yesterday we had our lovely old dog Beau put down. After nearly 14 and 1/2 years, we decided that another Winter would be too much for her. I have had her since she was 6 weeks old and she has lived with me in about 10 different places including 2 trips (and many frequent doggy miles) to Auckland. She was born only 150 metres from here, and has been my guardian when I lived alone, my companion, my exercise buddy, and my friend. The kids have grown up with her, and I've had her longer than I've had them AND Shayne!

oh that is so sad. I love the photo of Beau on the lawn at your old house with Patrick (?) cuddling him. He was a beautiful dog.

i can empathize with you all...we have done it now twice with our dogs and three cats...we still have and 8 year old lab who thinks she is a person and is in love with my hubby ...so we have to go through it again... Take comfort taht you made the right decision for Beau....mourn her passing but remember the wonderful companion and friend Beau was...
My little dog died a few weeks ago, and I'm devastated. Like you, she was my constant and faithful companion for 14-1/2 years, so I know how you are feeling.
