Today I was introduced to my new constant companion and BFF "Lance". Having been diagnosed with gestational diabetes last week, I had my first appointment with the Diabetes Educator today. I regularly donate blood, so needles don't bother me. Having said that, the initial finger prick to test haemoglobin levels before donating is the bit I HATE. Unfortunately for me, that's the bit I now have to do 4 times a day to monitor my glucose levels. I am trying to see this as a very positive "wake-up-call", and know I can do it for the next 11 weeks (hopefully no longer). My goal is to manage this with diet and exercise, and end the pregnancy feeling brilliant and without giving birth to a giant baby! Wish me luck as I embark on this new journey with Lance - who I hope is not a life partner! I'll keep you posted.

oh what a pain, but hopefully it will be worth it and you won't have any problems later on.
So many of us in our group have it now - it seems to be very common. let's hope you and the baby stay helathy.

Lance and I are not getting on so well this week and may have to add insulin to my growing group of things I need to take this pregnancy! Will know more tomorrow.
