I have been asked by a few people about Lauren's birthday cake, so I thought I'd put the details here. It was a little fiddly but I am
very impatient and not the least bit creative, so if
I can do it - anyone can. You make a small cake first and ice it, add "treasure" and then cover with a chocolate shell that the kids can then whack with a rolling pin or toy hammer and discover the treasure inside! My friend Andi made a
fantastic one for her daughter's bithday earlier this year, and after recently seeing the photos again on facebook, I thought I'd give it a try, and it was a huge success - if you don't count me having trouble with the first chocolate outer, and then leaving the choc melts in the micro a little long...but we got there! Kel got me the big smarties from Gourlays (thanks for the tip Andi) and the rest of the treasure was all from the supermarket. I will put the link
here that I used after googling "pinata cakes".
Oh and Mum - I have heaps of the overcooked chocolate left for you...
