After 20 years in the child care industry, I am now the proud new owner of my first set of head lice complete with itching, crawling scalp! When Patrick was little he used to call them "head licence" every time we had a notice home and I would have to check their hair. This year they seem to be in plague proportion and I have not escaped. There's nothing like waking at 5am to that crawling feeling that you really hope is only in your mind after spending a day combing and picking the little darlings from your child's hair (again!). I've sent Shayne off to speak to the teacher (again) as one child in one class has constantly got visible "live ones". Poor Lol has such thick hair, and freshly washed it does NOT stay up.! She has a double strength ponytail and a big head band on today to try and contain her hair and keep the little darlings out!
As for me, I'm seriously thinking about shaving mine off!
(Stop scratching!)

oh yuck!!! hope you get rid of them very soon and for good!
Stay away! I'm scratching already!
did you know they really only attach themselves to clean hair ...so it has nothing to do with being dirty ... a great way to deter them is a spray bottle with 1 cup of water and one capful of tea tree oil ...spray it through your hair...they hate it and wont attach themselves to the hair shaft...
but my one fear is them...yuckko!!!
Thanks - we do the tea tree spray as a preventative measure but have been a bit slack over Winter - I thought they hated wet weather and cold but apparently it's a "bumper" season with all the rain! I now have tea tree shampoo and everything including the car smells like tea tree - could be worse!
