Scouts swimming carnival

Every year, Patrick and Lauren's Scout and Cub packs attend a carnival at Riverside pool, and race against other packs in the area. This year, they came from as far as St Helens, and as usual, it was a great night with lots of fun events as well as the usual swimming. The slide was also open, and they had a BBQ and raised money for Scouts in Queensland affected by the recent floods. Lauren hurt her knee at Cubs on Thursday night so stayed with Nanna and Pa. Patrick had a great time and did really well - especially in the breaststroke and backstroke where he came third in both. 4th Launceston Cubs (Lol's pack) won again for the fourth year in a row, and Paddy's Scout group won by one point - so as he said on the way home, his participation helped get them over the line. They both love Cubs and Scouts and this is Patrick's 4th year (which is a long time for him to stick at anything). He's about to go all the way to Snug (way down south about 3 hours from here) for a 3 night Regatta on the March long weekend, and is really looking forward to it (not so much his mother who probably wont sleep!)
The last two years have been quite cold but it was a nice warm night last night, and the slide was very popular.
