On Friday night, the kids had their swimming carnival for Cubs. Fortunately it was a really warm night as it's at Riverside pool which is outdoors.
Last year it was freezing, and the kids had beanies and jumpers on and we ate hot pies and drank hot chocolate to stay warm! It's a great night with lots of different events from the Joey's (7 year olds) through to the Venturers (teens). The have a BBQ and lots of great novelty events including the leaders racing which is always funny to watch. Patrick went in 9 events and Lauren in 5, but I think it was Patrick's cheering that got them home!

The older Scouts and Venturer's get in and keep an eye on the younger kids and offer lots of encouragement - it's great to see ,and gives me hope that teens can be reasonable, thoughtful, friendly people!
Patrick has really shot away from Lauren in height this year and at 153cm is well on his way to the 6ft4" that we think he's going to be. We ordered him a king single bed yesterday in anticipation of his continued growth!
4th Launceston won the Cubs section again this year!
