Prospect Playgrounds

When we moved from Blackstone Heights to Prospect 5 years ago, part of the attraction was all the playgrounds in our area. Before we moved, I used to park the car at Prospect Vale Marketplace (shopping centre right near where we live now) and walk to a few of the different parks with the kids in the big double pram. Blackstone had no footpaths, and they are all reasonably flat and smooth around here, so it was much easier pushing two toddlers around! There are HEAPS of parks including one over our back fence, and four others within easy walking distance. Lauren is a VERY busy person and is always wanting to do something. Patrick is the opposite, and likes to stay home relaxing, sleeping in, and is excellent at amusing himself all day. While Patrick was still in bed this morning, Lauren and I went to check out the new equipment they'd put in one of the parks near us. (Shayne was home - we didn't just leave Paddy asleep- although I don't think he would have noticed!) We walked through to the furthest park first in Harley Parade near the touch footy grounds, and found the source of all the noise early every morning! I'd been hearing them between 6 and 7a.m. most mornings and think they may have come from the Gorge. When we lived at Blackstone Heights, there were peacocks there that had come through from the back of the Gorge and Duck Reach.
This guy was dragging his last tail feather so we hoped we might find one...
and we did! Max tried out some of the new equipment
They have put in a few new things for the kids, a BBQ and a toilet block, as well as exercite equipment for the bigger kids! On our way back, we stopped at this park on Country Club Avenue, where they have recently put brand new equipment - different to any we've seen before.
Between that park and the one closest to us in Las Vegas Drive, they have put some more exercite equipment that Lauren had fun trying out!
We've always loved the path between the parks as it's great for scooters, skateboards, billy carts and bikes. Now they have joined it up all the way from our corner through to Harley Parade, so the kids can ride or scoot all the way without having to "go bush" like we used to (often with me carrying the scooters or pushing bikes!)
There were two cheeky monkeys at the park!
This park - closest to home- could do with a bit of a facelift, but is good because there's heaps of open space around it and a great paved area to ride bikes and scooters. It's fantastic to be able to take the kids to 4 different lots of equipment within 15 minutes of our place, all with a connecting pathway. Well done to the Meander Valley Council for making the most of the open spaces in our area.

Who does Lauren look like in that one without her hat? You are lucky to have so many parks close by - we only have one.
