Remembering Royce

Today should have been Royce's 40th birthday.
Royce was my friend and flatmate who died in a house fire,
in the house we shared, 16 years ago.
Royce was a very talented graphic artist,
and at 23, should have had his whole life ahead of him.
If we'd had a smoke alarm - maybe he'd be here,
celebrating his 40th.
Get up now, check your smoke alarms,
and if you haven't got any GET SOME!
There is no room for complacency in a fire,
just a hell of a lot of "If only's"!

Wow that time has flown. I remember when we worked together and you used to talk about him a lot. So sad that his life was cut short like that.
