All Aboard!

We went to Evandale market today and the kids went on the train. We've been on this train a few times, and I was glad Patrick was still keen to go on it. Now he's 9 and in grade 4 - he's getting a little less likely to do these kinds of things, so it was great he still enjoyed it! The Evandale Light Rail and Steam Society run it (mostly volunteers I think) and it's on the 2nd and last Sundays of the month from 9.30-1pm. As you'll see from the kids footwear, you have to wear shoes that don't have open toes, so they had to borrow from the "loaner" selection! Patrick and Lauren collect the "Treasure's of the Earth" gemstone and mineral series, and have been gem mad since. They both got some new gems today at the market at a "back to school special" price. The kids love it out there - so many treasures to look at and of course - all the good stuff like Dagwood dogs and hot chips! I got a bargain of two big bags of lovely, fresh apricots for $5! Of course, no trip out to the market is complete without a visit to the "homemade stall hall"! Lauren chose kiss biscuits, and Patrick melting moments and not a single crumb will pass their mother's lips:( We were going to go to The Clucky Chook - Dr Harry's farm and cafe - on the way home, but it was closed (until June 30th apparently)!
