Fantastic Festivale Fun!

We went to Festivale today. For those of you who aren't local, Festivale is a food, wine and entertainment festival held in our beautiful City Park. It's is 21 years since Festivale began in the streets of Launceston - they used to block off St John Street and hold it in the streets for the first few years. It began as a celebration of cultures with a wide selection of foods and entertainment from far and wide. Now it is more about celebrating local food and wine, with a whole lot of performers thrown in to make it a family festival held over three days. I used to work at Festivale when it began, handing out promotional giveaways for the radio station 7EX, and was later lucky enough to have a job with the council for which I spent a month in City Park mapping their assets. I love City Park, and having Festivale there is fantastic! This is only the second time we've taken the kids, and I'm really glad we did! It was a BEAUTIFUL Tassie, Summer's day (about 26 degrees and crystal clear), and we had a great time.

It looks so good this year! We havent been for a few years. The price just to get in puts us off, but we may have to try it out next yer.

Lisa, we had been put off by the price previously, but today was $10 each for Shayne and I, and the kids were free, so $20 for a family isn't so bad, especially as they had so much free entertainment. The kids section for the under 6's looked terrific this year too.

It looks like our park in the center of the city - it's amazing how similar they can be.
