I went back to the Dr. to get my blood test results yesterday, and I have low iron stores (again). I also have borderline bad cholesterol - although my HDL (good) Cholesterol is good! I am also in the risk group for diabetes if I'm not careful (NOT GOOD)! So, along with a bottle of my favourite (NOT) iron tablets, and a not so subtle hint to lose weight, I am armed with a new attitude and plan to lose LOTS of weight and get fit! I have lost 3 kilos in the 3 weeks since New Year's Day, and hope to continue on the better eating, more exercise, more water path that I know is good for me, but have trouble sticking too (especially the exercise part)!

The good news is that my thyroid is fine and I haven't had a headache since THE BIG NEEDLE, so that helps - I feel MUCH more like exercising without headaches, and the iron tablets should help that too! My blood pressure was also normal after being nearly off the charts last week - possibly due to the horrible headaches!

I have set two goals - to finish the 5km walk in March feeling good and like I could keep going, and to be feeling heaps better, healthier and lighter by my 40th in June. Both easily achievable - I've set goals too high in the past, so am taking things easily (but not too easily!)

Anyway, where do you come in? I need your experiences in "keeping on track" and the handy hints to make this whole process as painless as possible. The Doc. thinks that wayward hormones are the problem, and has a few solutions, but I want to try and get back in control of my own body my way! I'm hoping that by blogging about my journey (sounds like a lovely trip and NOT the fun it's really going to be!!!), I will be more likely to stay on track! If I don't mention how I'm going for a while - leave me a comment and say "What's going on??? Are you being good??? Have you lost weight" and generally any encouragements along that theme!

Oh, and wish me luck...

It's hard work isn't it? All I can say is it gets harder as you get older (sorry) and keep up the good work.
Hi Kylie,
I had blood tests a couple of months back, And I,m borderline diabetic, and high cholesterol count as well.
My doctor says it has to be genetic, as I,m not overweight, and I,m
pretty careful with my food because of my C.F.S.
I am getting older though, so I will just have to roll with the punches. Still good luck with the walk!!
Love Lorraine xxx
I lost 10 kilo by walking and eating less more often ( 5 times a day)- oh and three little things water Water WATER!!!
Keep walking Kylie - you are still at a good age to fix the underlying problems - don't let them get out of control. It DOES get a lot harder as you get older (not that you are old YET)
Good news about your thyroid. You are brave putting it on here, but its a good idea as it will make you work harder - I will be checking on you!! I need to lose some weight too - I have put on 3 kg since not going to the gym since early Dec. I put my membership on hold as I wasn't well for a while, and am feeling like getting back into it. I still had 4 kg to lose to get back to my pre pregnancy weight too, so I've got at least 6 kg to lose if not more.
You don't feel like joining up at Theogenes and joining me? :) It's heaps of fun and I go to a class each morning at 9.15am - it means I can't get out of exercising at least for an hour as I'm stuck in the class and its over with early and I go straight after getting the boys to school.
Lisa PLEASE do keep me on my toes (and not the couch!). I thought about joining a gym again, but am back doing relief at Gowrie, and hope to some relief T.A. at Summerdale, so need to be "on call". Mum and I went to the YMCA weights room last year as it's cheap and you can just turn up, so am getting back to that soon, and Netball (haven't played since June!). So, with that and aqua and walking I HOPE to keep it up - only early days yet but I am feeling better already! My pre pregnancy weight and post weight after Lol were the same for a brief moment a VERY long time ago (I can't even blame MY "BABIES" anymore) and I don't think I'll see that number EVER again:(
It will be easier when school goes back - less time at home and always getting food for the kids - my three eat constatnly during the holidays!!!
