Not so Sun Smart!

We went to the pool again today. It never ceases to amaze me how many people don't have proper protection! There were toddlers without tops - as in bare, nothing on - not even the sheen of sunscreen, and 99% of the people were in the sun or very little shade. The semi-shady grass areas, and the totally unshaded areas at Riverside pool were packed today, but the good old stands - 100% shaded - were near empty! It was 26+ degrees today with a UV alert from very high to extreme, so I don't get it. If adults want to get skin damage then let them, but it is scary how many people don't seem to care that their kids are being exposed to the UV rays for hours at a time every day! I wont let the kids from the area in our yard unless they have hats on, and they have to spend most of their time in the shade. They think I'm the Hat Nazi, but I don't care!
Even Roughie knows he needs a hat and long sleeves
to protect himself!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAREN!

We hope you have a lovely day!

Hi Kylie, I agree with you totally about sun protection for kids. Even here in Queensland I am shocked when most Sundays at nippers, parents are asking to borrow sunscreen for their kids!Would seem better to put sunscreen on at home like we do before going to the beach. By the way on holidays we had temps of 38 degrees last week at Wangaratta and that was very hot for us. It was good to get home to 28 degrees!Take care
Susanne

I know Susanne - it's crazy isn't it? I see people putting sunscreen on just before they jump in the pool, and it hasn't had a chance to work! We are heading for 30 today which is VERY hot for us! Hope you had a great holiday, and that the boys are well.
