That can't be good!

I went to the doctor today and my blood pressure was
150/105
- NOT good!!!
Luckily, it's usually always 120/80, and I have it taken every 10 weeks at the Blood Bank so I have a good point of reference, and know what my "norm" is. The Dr. thinks it may have been a little of "White Coat Syndrome" - being a bit anxious about going to the Dr., and for some reason I was today. I'm not normally, and haven't had to go to the Dr. since my last check up nearly two years ago. Dr.'s don't bother me, so not sure what the anxiety was about - unless maybe it was a premonition of things to come...

I went mainly because of my too frequent headaches, but also weight gain and generally feeling BLAH a lot of the time. It's a vicious cycle - get a headache - don't feel like exercising - don't exercise feel blah - get a headache, and so it goes! Anyway, after asking a zillion questions and doing a few tests (eye focusing, neck soreness etc) good old Dr. Joe decided a very long needle into a very sore spot might help! The aim is to relax the muscles and break the connection and thus, stop the headaches - hopefully! Fortunately it didn't hurt - but it sure felt weird as the long needle (longer and finer than above) scraped along the base of my SKULL behind my ear, and the slight "swishing" sound as the drug went in! NICE - not something I'd like to have done every day, but better than you'd expect.

Anyway, he's ordered a barrage of tests including haemoglobin and thyroid function (as I also have a pain in the neck - and not just Shayne), so hopefully we'll find out that it's some hormonal thing that can be fixed ending with a headache free, fab feeling, "lighter" me ("woo hoo" I say to that!).

I'll keep you posted...

Poor you!! Needles suck. If you are interested our friend Marlo is great for things like you are going through. She has this machine called a MORA. Its hard to explain but if you want to find out more email me. Her fiance is a medical Dr and also does what she does - they are called biological medicine therapists. She works from her home in Exeter and it has helped us a lot with different things. I know she treats a lot of people for hormonal imbalances, migraines, thyroid probs etc. Also she says being unable to lose weight has to do with having thrush in your body - even if you don't have the symptoms of thrush. She does an anti candida treatment using her machine as well as probiotics and a 2 week regeneration diet which gets rid of the thrush. She says so many people find it hard to lose weight until its gone.
Email me if you want to know more.

I was just checking the comments and the word verification was "noldr"!

Is that a pun?? Like "you are gettin'older"??? I like to think it means I'll get "no older" - hmm - or maybe not, as the only way to do that is to drop dead, and I don't plan to do that just yet!!!

It's amazing how often the word verifications are relevant to the blog! Spooooky!

Kylie - this may sound silly and you have probably already thought of it, but have you tried a chiropractor at all? I know when my neck is out it gives me huge headaches and i feel like crap. We see an awesome chiro and whenever my neck is out she helps so much and I feel half normal again, and the headaches stop. The chiro we see isn't one of those 'back cracking' ones, but has a much gentler technique. My neck has been out the last three times I've been to the chiro and she says even stress can just throw it out which I know I've been under lately. Just a thought.

p.s the word verification is 'grive' not sure if that means you are 'grieving' because you are getting 'noldr'???

I am grieving about getting older Lisa - but maybe I'm being an "oversinic" (does that mean I an being over cynical, or that my ovaries are sic????)
